Crochet Potholder Instructions

Reversible Crochet Potholder instructions:

Use cotton yarn such as Sugar and Cream 4ply or equivalent and size G crochet hook.

Chain 27.

Row 1: in second chain from hook, single crochet (sc) in the outside of the stitch.

Single crochet in the outside of each chain (ch) across for a total of 26 sc in all. Ch.1 and turn.

Row 2: insert hook in one loop, of the last sc made on row 1 and in the remaining loop of the original chain not used for the sc in row 1. Yarn over and pull up through both loops and complete a sc through both loops. Repeat across making a sc in all 26 of the sc in row 1. Chain 1 and turn.

Rows 3 to end: Repeat row 2 until piece is square, ch 1 and turn.

To finish off: insert hook in all three remaining loops of each stitch across and slip stitch in 2 inches and pull up yarn through last loop on hook. Tie in the yarn ends.

This makes a very effective potholder that will protect your hands, table top, or counter top from hot pans. These make nice gifts and you can make matching dishcloths to go with them if you want to give a set as a gift.
